Remodeling your bathroom to reflect a classic, simple and comfortable design is a surefire way to maintain a modern look that won’t go out of style. Here are a few ways to conquer a brand new bathroom that is both functional and tastefully designed.

• Stick with white. Going with an all-white bathroom will keep it feeling airy and vivid. Think you may still need a pop of color? Choose a brightly-hued, solid-colored shower curtain and/or drawer/cabinet knobs.

• Consider a Roman (curbless) shower.  A Roman shower is a shower that is not enclosed by a door or shower curtain. It offers a modern architectural look, and also has no rim to step over, which makes it easily accessible for all age groups, from toddlers to seniors.

• Maximize the floor space. Bathrooms designed with a universal style typically offer more space than traditional bathrooms, as they provide more room to maneuver. Think about different ways to add a sense of spaciousness to your new bathroom. Could you build a wider doorway? Perhaps you could provide more room around the toilet?

• Utilize your walls for storage. This is another way to maximize floor space, while also maintaining a simple look. Go for a bathroom cabinet that can neatly organize your bathroom items (towels, medicine, cleaning supplies, etc.) while also hiding them away. Also consider storing your hamper under the sink area. Leaving bathroom items out on display via shelves or see-through cabinetry/storage detracts from a simple, clean look.
